چکیده

conservation tillage, a fast growing practice in iran, is considered as a means to achieve sustainability in agricultural systems. this study was carried out to determine the effect of tillage systems (no-tillage, minimum tillage and conventional tillage ) on yield and yield components of three irrigated wheat varieties. the field experiment was conducted at the experimental station of the university of tehran in 2010. the experimental design was rcbd in split-plot arrangement with four replicates. three different tillage systems including conventional, minimum tillage and no-till were applied in main plots. wheat cultivars (pishtaz, pishgam and bahar) were sown in sub plots. the results showed a significant difference amongst different method. grain yield, number of spikes per square meter, biological yield, harvest index and 1000 grain weight were higher in conventional than the other two systems p(

Optimizing Strip-Till and No-Till Systems for Corn

Recent developments in biofuel demand and the rapid adoption of modern transgenic hybrids are changing production systems towards more corn after corn, more intensive tillage, higher plant populations, and ever higher crop residue levels at harvest. Meeting society’s needs for food, feed, and fuel from grain corn, and in the future from corn stover, requires continued refinement of tillage syst...

Winter decomposition of transgenic cotton residue in conventional-till and no-till systems

Current research suggests that genetic modification of commercial crops may lead to indirect effects on ecosystem function (i.e. decomposition and nutrient cycling processes). We investigated residue decomposition of cotton that was genetically modified to express an endotoxin insecticide isolated from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) and/or glyphosate tolerance (Roundup Ready®). Decomposition of th...

No-till Wheat Production in Oklahoma

Should I switch from conventional till to no-till wheat production? This is one of the most common questions asked by Oklahoma farmers, but it is also one of the most difficult to answer. There are several considerations when making this decision, and there is certainly no one-size-fits-all program for converting from conventional till to no-till wheat production. A few factors to be considered...

Documenting no-till and conventional till practices using Landsat ETM+ imagery and logistic regression

The ability of agricultural lands to sequester carbon from the atmosphere and help mitigate global warming has the potential to add value to farmland through the development of carbon-credit trading. Crucial to the creation of a market-based carbon credit trading system is the monitoring and verification of agricultural practices that promote carbon storage. Using remotely sensed images for thi...
